A New Year comes with a new look: Oglethorpe Sturton & Gillibrand’s renowned and well-respected agricultural department has a new arrival! Avelina Wright, a specialist in this area of law in her own right, complements the existing agricultural property team, joining John Myers and Lara McIntosh. Avelina’s move was a very welcome one, creating one of the largest and most experienced specialist agricultural property departments in the North West.
Avelina was one of the first Fellows of the Agricultural Law Association in the region and co-founded its North West group, which she continues to run. She comes from a rural background and has always felt at home acting for rural clients. She is based in the Kirkby Lonsdale office, from where she is easily accessible to clients in the Lune Valley, the Dales and the Lakes, although she and the team act for clients all around the country. The office’s location also allows her to play a greater role in her local Mountain Rescue team and enjoy her passion for a whole variety of activities in the great outdoors.
Oglethorpe Sturton & Gillibrand has a long history of working with farming and land owning clients. Aside from inevitably dealing with a huge variety of specialist agricultural property matters, this has also resulted in a full set of legal services being available to rural clients. Such services range from tax, trusts and estate planning, wills and probate, farming partnerships and corporate structures to a variety of disputes, including family disputes, protecting family farms in contemplation of marriages as well as employment matters, to name but a few.
