The Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners (STEP) is the worldwide professional body which promotes the highest professional standards for its members.

Becoming a Full STEP Member is a level many private client lawyers strive to achieve. It is the top professional qualification for a lawyer dealing with Wills, Trusts and Estates. Full qualification displays a practitioner’s knowledge, commitment, and passion in their specialist area.

The process to become STEP qualified is rigorous. Practitioners working towards their STEP Diploma must complete four modules each rigorously tested by external examination.  Once all exams have been passed, the practitioner, who must have at least two years’ experience in the profession, can then apply to become a Full STEP Member.

Oglethorpe Sturton & Gillibrand are fortunate to have four fully qualified STEP members. Partners Clare Love and Mark Hutchinson, senior solicitor Helen McCabe and most recently, senior solicitor, Liz Byrne, has passed her final STEP exam. Solicitors Laura Brereton and Eleanor Belshire, and Chartered Legal Executive Bethany Wood, have also passed exams on their way to becoming fully qualified STEP members.

At Oglethorpe Sturton & Gillibrand, emphasis is placed on supporting our employees in their progression towards professional excellence. These fantastic personal achievements further bolster our firm’s expertise and enable the highest quality service to be continuously offered to our clients.
