When a person becomes unable to deal with their affairs no one has the automatic right to deal with their assets or make decisions on their behalf. This can cause difficulty and distress for family members trying to assist their loved ones.

Planning for the future now allows you to put provisions in place. Lasting Powers of Attorney (“LPAs”) enable you to appoint people you choose to act for you if you need them to.

LPAs can:

  • be made in relation to your property and financial affairs, and your health and welfare.
  • be very flexible, allowing you to appoint different combinations of people to act on your behalf
  • provide instructions and guidance on what you want

Without an LPA in place an application to the Court of Protection may be required for the appointment of a deputy to deal with your affairs. We can advise on the steps to be taken.

We have extensive experience in making all types of LPAs. If it was not possible to get a Lasting Power of Attorney in place we have the skills and experience to guide you in applying for and obtaining a deputyship order to deal with a persons affairs.

Our highly qualified and experienced team means we can assist in all manners of circumstances, for instance, in contentious or difficult matters where families do not agree or there a re concerns about undue influence or abuse.

We can also assist in matters where a court order is required for a special purpose, for instance, in making gifts for estate planning purposes.
