The firm’s Commercial Property team is growing increasingly stronger, now boasting six expert solicitors. The ‘well-respected’ Allan Sumner fronts the department, alongside fellow Partners Charlotte Russell and David Park. The team has copious amounts of experience in handling all aspects of commercial property and development. The Legal 500 has recognised the team’s ‘diligence’, with testimonies stating that ‘the team helps navigate through complex deals to beneficial conclusions’.

Oglethorpe Sturton & Gillibrand’s Private Client department has enjoyed a particularly successful year, developing into one of the strongest Private Client teams in the Northwest. The department is fortunate to have four fully qualified STEP members. The ‘positive’, ‘proactive’, and ‘approachable’ team has been recognised as being particularly strong on the establishment and restructuring of trusts, including lifetime and personal injury trusts. Working across various estate and succession planning matters, the team has a focus on inheritance and capital gains tax mitigation and is comfortable dealing with assets in foreign jurisdictions.
Leading the firm’s Private Client department is the accomplished Clare Love. Clare has a broad private client practice, with a noticeable specialism in agricultural estates, as well as cross-border estates. Testimonials for Clare include that she ‘always takes the time to understand the client first’ and possesses ‘excellent people skills’ giving ‘honest advice that benefits her client only’.
