On Friday, staff at our Lancaster office had been busy baking again for Cupcake Day in aid of the Alzheimer’s Society. With a small donation staff and clients enjoyed the creations, and games!
It is such a worthy cause and a disease that affects many of our clients.
Some quick facts (pinched from the Alzheimer’s Society website https://www.alzheimers.org.uk/):
It isn’t just part of aging – there are over 40,000 people in the UK who are under 65 with dementia.
It isn’t just memory loss but can include:
- Difficulty concentrating
- Problems with planning and thinking things through
- Struggling with familiar daily tasks
- Issues with communication
- Problems judging distances
- Mood changes
Some of the most cutting edge work to battle dementia is being undertaken by Lancaster University.
The Alzheimer’s Society is not just for those with dementia but those affected by dementia.
There is a range of support available locally for those with dementia and those affected by dementia so if you know anyone who you think might benefit we can point you in the right direction.
Our solicitors in our Private Client Team are becoming Dementia Friends through an initiative run by the Alzheimer’s Society. This initiative aims to transform the way the nation views the condition, to help make life better for those affected by dementia.
