We are delighted to hear of the changes to the Stamp Duty Land Tax thresholds following the government’s recent budget announcement.

It means that first time buyers buying properties worth up to £425,000 pay no stamp duty land tax, and the threshold at which stamp duty land tax is payable for those who have previously owned property, has increased from £125,000 to £250,000. Those buying additional properties, second homes, buy to lets, will still be subject to the 3% surcharge on the standard rates. The changes, brought in with immediate effect, mean a potential saving of thousands of pounds for those buying residential property.
