Following an investigation by the Competition and Markets Authority (CMA), Persimmon Homes have agreed to allow its leaseholders the right to purchase their property’s freehold at a discount.
Persimmon Homes currently have a right to buy scheme where the owners of leasehold houses can acquire the freehold, but this new agreement means that the purchase price of the freehold is capped at £2,000. Persimmon Homes have also stated that those who have already acquired the freehold of their properties from Persimmon under the existing right to buy scheme and who still own the freehold may be eligible for a refund.
This agreement provides a fair deal for leaseholders by giving them an opportunity to purchase their freehold at a reasonable price.
