It has been another exciting and busy year for Oglethorpe Sturton & Gillibrand in which we have had plenty to celebrate and be thankful for.
In the Spring we were proud to be a finalist of the Lancashire Business View Red Rose Awards.
Over the summer months, we attended many of the local agricultural shows, providing financial support to events which are such a vital and vibrant part of the local agricultural community. For the first time, we exhibited at the Garstang Agricultural Show where our farm animal balloons were a huge hit.
September saw the second annual Lancaster Expo, organised by the Lancaster & Morecambe Chamber of Commerce, showcasing the strength and depth of the local business community that we are so proud to serve. Our stand showcased the firm’s history, which has been brought into particular focus this year.
Although we can trace our roots back in Lancaster to as early as 1810, 2018 marked the 50th anniversary of Clark, Oglethorpe & Sons joining together with Sturton, Son & Gillibrand to form Oglethorpe Sturton & Gillibrand. The firm celebrated this important milestone by commissioning local artist Chas Jacobs to create a unique painting of our office at Castle Park, the original of which is displayed in our reception.
Whilst history is important, the present day remains a challenging environment but by focusing on what we do well, we have been able to expand our teams this year, with a number of experienced solicitors joining our agricultural, family and private client departments to support our busy practice.
Our longstanding reputation and continuity is largely down to our committed and loyal clients who keep returning to us, or recommending us to friends and family. We would like to take this opportunity to thank all our clients and the business community for their continued support and faith in us, and we are looking forward to another successful year in 2019.
